Da Rumor Mill

We’ve gotten the wheels rotated and all greased up and now Da Rumor Mill is rollin’
again.
News that Paris Bennett, the cute little girl with the big voice on American Idol, gave
birth to a baby girl has our wheels spinnin’ outta control. Paris, now 20, named her 5
lb, 5 ounce bundle of joy Egypt. Mother and daughter are reportedly doing well. Paris
plans to drop a Christmas CD on Oct. 14.
A couple of weeks ago, word on da street was that The Neptunes had broken up.
Now, da word is that they’re still together and were seen at the N.E.R.D and Common
show about that went down in Anaheim a few weeks ago. The Neptunes produced
about half the tracks on Common’s new LP. Da rumors keep going back n forth
knockin’ my wheels off track.
Jay Z was reportedly MIA at a Miami concert to support Senator Barack Obama and his
fans are ticked off.
Pass the mic. BET's "Rap City" has been given the boot and will be replaced with “The
Deal” starting Nov. 10.
First, she lost her top. Now, she's lost her court case. Maria Dominguez sued Diddy and
Vibe Magazine for publishing topless pictures of her without her permission. She filed
a $3 million invasion-of-privacy suit when a shot of her with two other bare-breasted
sirens ran in the November 2006 issue of Vibe next to the caption, "Mermaids gone
wild." The pic was taken at one of Diddy’s White Parties. Vibe argued it didn't need
permission at a "newsworthy" event, and the judge agreed.
Ummmmm! Master P is now beefin’ with 50 Cent over a song that fifty dropped dissin’
him.
Speakin’ of dissin’, Ne-Yo says he still has love for R. Kelly. Ne-Yo sued Kelly's tour
promoter, Rowe Entertainment, after he was kicked off Kelly's 2007 tour (allegedly for
upstaging the so-called star of the show). But, having just won $700,320 in damages,
Ne-Yo ain’t seein’ red, but green. "It's all in the past. I think I'm going to use the
money and open up a club or a cigar bar in Atlanta," says Ne-Yo. The Grammy winner
did confirm that Jay-Z and Sean (Diddy) Combs gave him a hip-hop hazing. "We were
all in London a while ago, and I ended up doing so many shots of Patrón because I
thought everyone else was," he recalled. "But they were just putting them down
without drinking! So nine shots later, and I'm hanging out of Jay's Maybach, losing my
lunch! He called and joked he was going to send me a cleaning bill for the carpeting."
On that note, I’ll hurl outta here. Check ya out next month at Da Rumor Mill.
Solange steps into the spotlight
By Tenisha Renee Miller

Solange Knowles has long been overshadowed by her big sister,
Beyonce’.
Now, Solange is stepping out from the backgrounds and into
the spotlight to hold her own on the charts.
Since dropping SoL-AngeL and The Hadley St. Dream last
month, her sophmore project on Music World Entertainment/Geffen
Records, the album has risen to number three on Billboard’ s Top R & B/Hip-Hop
Albums chart.
Compared by many as a cross between Gnarles Barkley, Little Jackie, Dusty Springfield
and Amy Winehouse, Solange's SoL-AngeL and The Hadley St. Dreams is heating up the
charts. It has already produced two hit singles: "I Decided" and "Sandcastle Disco."
"I Decided" reached #1 on Billboard's "Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales" chart, #1 on
Billboard's "Hot Dance Singles Sales" chart and #2 on Billboard's "Hot Singles Sales" chart.
"I Decided" also topped iTunes' R&B Chart, hoding the #1 spot for 9 weeks in a row.
"Sandcastle Disco" is also making noise and has been the #1 "Most Viewed Video" on
MTV.com.
It’s no wonder how "SoL-AngeL and The Hadley St. Dreams" is gaining so much
attention. Some of the hottest producers worked on the project including Lamont
Dozier, who teamed up with newcomer Mark Ronson on "6 O'clock Blues," Cee-Lo, who
lent his songwriting skills on the Jack Splash produced second single, "Sandcastle
Disco," hitmaker Pharrell Williams and The Neptunes on "I Decided", and the formidable
chart-topping Lil Wayne spits a few verses on ChronicKnightCap."
Brandy makes a comeback to
show she's only human
By Tenisha Renee Miller

Where’s Brandy?
That’s the question many fans have been asking since Brandy Norwood was replaced
by Sharon Osborne on the hit NBC show, “America’s Got Talent” and was involved in a
fatal car accident.
It’s been four years since Brandy release her gold certified album, “Afrodisiac”.
The long awaited “Human,” which tells of Brandy’s journey as an artist and individual,
is scheduled to drop November 11 and will be released on Epic Records.
Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins reunited with Brandy to produce the first single, “Right
Here (Departed) that dropped August 26. The two first teamed up on Brandy’s 1998
multi-platinum selling album, “Never Say Never”.
"'Human' is my most personal album to date," said Brandy. “I have grown so much since
my last album. Being able to express myself and my journey through my music is a
feeling I can't describe. With this new chapter of my life it feels good to have Rodney,
a familiar face, by my side again. He brings out emotions in me like nobody else."
Using life experiences to break down walls of defense, Brandy created the most
emotionally resonant album of her career that was brought out with Jerkins’
production skills to show she’s “Human”.
"It feels good to be back in the lab with Brandy again," said Jerkins. "We've always
made great records and I'm humbled and honored to be continuing our legacy. The
sound might be new, bigger, and more uplifting but we've kept our musical promise by
making great songs and great music once again. There is no musical combination like
ours!"
Notable tracks on "Human" include "Fall," which Brandy co-wrote with the chart-
topping British dance/pop singer/songwriter Natasha Bedingfield, as well as the new
songs "Long Distance," "Piano Man," and "Torn Down."
Collaborators with Brian Kennedy (Rihanna/"Disturbia"), emerging production whiz
RedOne (Kat DeLuna, 2006 World Cup Official Single "Hips Don't Lie" with Shakira &
Wyclef Jean), and James Fauntleroy (Jordin Sparks/"No Air") can also be found.
Since releasing her first project “Brandy,” which was certified platinum four times, at
only 15, Brandy has earned a slew of awards. She has sold over 25 million albums
worldwide and is recognized as one of the top-selling female recording artists in pop
music history.
When “Human” hits stores, questions are sure to change from “Where’s Brandy” to
“Where can I pick up her new CD?”
Now, that’s what you call a comeback!
