What up doe? Da rumor mill is rollin’ on
a spare and a dare.
I dare you to guess who has gone from being in
an empire state of mind to a state of motherhood?
Time’s up... Alicia Keys. The 29-year-old Grammy
Award-winning R&B singer will soon be producer
Kasseem Dean, aka Swizz Beatz’s, new baby
momma. The two have reportedly been dating
since 2008 and plan to jump the broom later this
year. Is his divorce final, yet? Anyway, Swizz Beatz,
who is 31, has two sons by Mashonda, his wife or
soon-to-be ex-wife. It gets me how a married
person can be engaged to another person, but
c’est la vie or whatever! I wonder if he will be
faithful to Keys or does he have a chick on the
side? Hmmm.
Speaking of a spare, Ray J and Brandy may have
to add another partner to their family business.
Rumor has it that Willie Ray Norwood, Sr. had his
own little spare or jump off back in
the day. He allegedly has an illegitimate son
named Danyelle Brown, who was born in 1975.
Willie reportedly denies the claim. I guess Sonya
would probably roll a spare up his behind, if
it’s true. Danyelle supposedly has a webseries
that tells why Willie Norwood is his father. Is
he busted after denying him for all of these years?
Going from busted to busting out, rapper Da Brat,
Shawntae Harris, is reportedly out of prison. For
the first time since landing a 3-year sentence in
2008 for aggravated assault (aka. bustin’ a bar
waitress upside her head with a bottle back in
2007), the platinum-selling rapper is free. Well,
kind of. Da Brat is free during the day on a work
release program. She has reportedly been
spending her free time working as a window-
maker and hitting the studio with producer
Jermaine Dupri.
When it comes to busted, rapper 50 Cent looks
like a bust up crack head. The 34-year-old
rapper lost over 50 lbs, going from 214
lbs to 160 lbs in just over two months for a role in
the upcoming movie “Things Fall Apart”.
50 wrote, produced and stars in the flick that is
about a football player battling cancer. I guess 50
has skills in front and behind the mic.
And, like Mike, we’re outta here!

Slum Village to return with 'Villa Manifesto'
|
E1 Music and NE’ASTRA Music Group is happy to announce the release of Villa Manifesto, the
new studio al-bum by Detroit hip hop group Slum Village, on July 27, 2010. The album is the group’s
first to feature vocal contributions from all four members: T3, J Dilla and the late Baatin and Elzhi. The
album also features Dwele, De La Soul, Little Brother, Colin Munroe and Phife and production by
Young RJ, J. Dilla, Dave West, Hi Tek, and Mr. Porter. The first single, “Faster,” features Colin Munroe
and was produced by Young RJ will be serviced to radio shortly.
Slum Village’s 6th studio album serves as both a reunion and a memorial album. "I wanted to pull
the whole squad together," explains T3. "The reason why we call it Villa Manifesto is that it was a
statement we want to give our people because we had been away for so long. What we're do-
ing, what's going on, how we're feeling and where we're at today."
In its earliest incarnation, Slum Village was a trio: T3, Baatin and would-be production legend J.
Dilla (then Jay Dee). When Dilla left the group to pursue a solo career in 2002, the syllable slamming
upstart Elzhi was brought in to supplement Baatin and T on the Trinity LP. Shortly thereafter, Baatin
himself would split as well, citing health issues, and leaving just the duo of T3 and Elzhi. In 2006,
Dilla passed away from complications stemming from his long battle with Lupus. Then, last summer
Baatin was found dead in his home, the cause unknown.
After forming in the late ‘90s, the group quickly earned critical acclaim with Fantastic Vol. 1 and Vol.
2. Their third album Trinity (Past, Present, Future) propelled them even further as it included the
hit single “Tainted,” which featured fellow Motowner Dwele.
