How to maximize your closet space

When it comes to organizing your closet, you don’t always need
expensive interior designers, a bunch of extra hangers, or an
elaborate                          custom order closet unit.

When you have limited closet space, it’s important to find extra storage
spaces, such as under the bed.  If your bed is too low to the ground for a
storage bin or tote, you can easily purchase bed lifters.  They will elevate
your bed to allow room you to store things underneath.

Fashion trends for fall and winter
As the seasons change from warm to cool, there's an abundance of exciting new fashion trends and
rich colors to set the mood for shorter days and cooler nights. Stay on top of the latest fashion trends
for the new fall and winter season, 2009 - 2010 with current eye-catching styles as well as classic
favorites.

History shows that autumn is the most popular season to preview fashion trends. With cool weather
moving in, we have a tendency to focus more on style. Women's Fall fashions for women will
demonstrate bold colors and earth tones to compliment flashier fabrics. Taking a cue from Paris and Mi-
lan, celebrities are wearing and eclectic mix of neutrals and bolds to express individuality.

Charcoal and silver sets the overall trend for base colors while adding vibrant, eye-catching color.
Women portray power and sophistication at work with understated monochrome and can step it up a
notch for play with a chic black and gold combo. Real attention-getters are bright burgundy, purple, or
lime green outfits paired with neutral accessories.

Teal and mustard yellow emerge as front runners for popular, splashy colors this fall. Not just
separate, but together as a bold mix in patterns and accessories. If you think that's too flashy, pick one
color to wear with a pair of jeans or skirt.

Who says you can't wear white after labor day? Not only are we seeing white paired with bright
colors, were seeing white from head to toe. Add in some understated black accessories and you'll be
ready for work or play.

The new fall and winter season brings back some popular classic fabrics. In addition to mohair, suede,
leather, fleece, and velvet, the cotton stretch fabric allows and expansion and movement.

Denim and corduroy casual pants are stylish for the season but also add practicality. One of the many
trendy fringe or simple leather belts are appropriate and emit a classic elegance.

Metallic fabrics are not exclusive to clothing. Accessories such as purses and belts are used to catch
the eye and accent styles. Worn not only for casual but formal, these shiny fabrics will make you feel
like a Cinderella at the ball.

Search for patterns that look best on you. Select from the classic pinstripes, jacquards, checks,
paisleys, and tweed. These will all be all be available with the fall fashions. Choose wisely, they don't
flatter all figures.

Faux animal prints are all the rage this season, with leopard being the most popular. For those who
are not so daring, accessories such as belts, handbags, and shoes can add just the animal or reptile
look without being overstated. Look for alligator, crocodile, or snakeskin to complete your ensemble.

Traditional, tailored clothing are classics which are always a good choice for the workplace
environment. Cover up with a print coat or coatdress when the weather turns cold.

Cropped is not just for summer. In addition to long trousers, cropped ones can be appropriate for fall
and winter, as long as they're worn with the right pair of shoes. Patent boots, flats, or sandals add a
nice finishing touch only if they're conservative.

Dresses are taking a significant shift in detail. Soft, light fabrics with silkscreen designs are cropping
up all over Hollywood. Varying waistlines flatter a wide variety of figures, allowing any woman to feel
flirty and feminine.

Trapeze dresses raise the waistline while adding length to the torso. This fall and winter season
embraces the vintage look, with shiny fabrics, fake fur edgings and trim give an elegant look for late-
night parties. A pair of high-heeled, designer sandals adds romance to mystery.

Choosing the perfect nightie

Jamie Richardson
SPECIAL TO THE SUN

Women are becoming more selective in every aspect of their lives: family, children, career and in
choosing the right nighties. They are choosy about what type of home they live in, the car they drive
and, of course, their wardrobe.

While women value business suits, gowns and fashion accessories, sleepwear is equally important.

Some may be comfortable wearing baggy pajamas or oversized t-shirts. Others prefer sexy lingerie.
Yet, there are some who give little or no attention to nightwear. When unexpected company drops by
at night, these ones always make the excuse of not looking their best at bedtime.

Just as important as a black dress and fitted jeans are nighties.  You should not only be comfortable
when sleeping, but look while doing so.

Women’s nightwear can be a pair of pajamas, a cozy short sleeve dress, night shirts, bed jackets,
gowns and wraps, and lounge suits. Since you might not be comfortable in wearing all of these types of
nightwear, you need to choose which you really want and fit your style.

Comfort and quality should be considered when choosing the right sleepwear. Ill-fitting nightwear is a
major complaint. Oversize clothes makes a woman look overweight - a huge no no. Therefore, you
should learn how to find the right type.

The rule in choosing the perfect women’s nightwear is that the dress should be able to highlight
assets of the body and downplay the unsightly curves. If you have a nice pair of long legs, choose a
short nightdress like the one with a flounce hemline. Find the luxury of wearing it by being conscious
of the material like prefer to have the one made of cotton or silk. If you have the curves placed at the
right places of your body, a delicate shoestring straps and expertly tailored bodice would make a
superb fit for you.

Aside from functional use, show off your personality in a properly fitted nightie. Nightwear can also
give a spark to your relationship by knowing and having the right choice.

Choosing the right nightwear has nothing to do with vanity. It reflects your personality and style with
comfort in the mind.

So, when someone says sleep tight, do it in comfort in the right nightie.
                   Fashion Plus?
By Janae’ Miller

Tugging on the waistline of her jeans, Lisa struggled for several minutes to get into each leg.

“Putting on jeans is a major task,” says Lisa James, who is 5 foot 6 and wears a size 14. “I often have to
maneuver myself into different positions to pull them up. It seems like a lot of designers aren’t creating
clothes for the average woman.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average size woman weighs 164
pounds and wears a size 14.

Yet, many women are finding going shopping a “fashion plus” - headache, time consuming and
unproductive.

Many stores offer limited selections that are fit for plus size shoppers.

“I don’t always want to go into shops for big girls. Why can’t I go into a regular store with my smaller
friends and we all find fashions that fit,” asked Karen Jenkins, of Detroit. “Stores could
make more money, if they cater to customers of all sizes.”

Retailers say that plus-size collections are 10 percent more expensive to make compared to standard
lines, because additional fabrics are needed.

As a result, retailers who neglect plus size customers are losing big for not adding a few inches of
fabric.

Sales of plus size fashions that are size 16 and larger dropped 8 percent. By contrast, sales of regular
women's sizes fell only 2 percent.

“(Plus size customers) are really bargain shoppers,” says Catherine Schuller, a plus-size expert and
former editor at Mode, a magazine for larger women.

“Many are homemakers who can't spend considerable amounts on clothes and are willing to sacrifice
their own spending for their families, especially now.”

So, the bottom line for retailers is to meet the needs of their plus size clients or they may also
experience a fashion plus, when they lose big in the business.
